Autumn Apple Fruit Salad!
If you watch kids with training wheels ride their bike, you’ll notice they quickly adjust to relying on the training wheels so they sway from side to side instead of actually balancing. Then when you take the training wheels off, they are so used to leaning from side to side that they don’t focus on balancing. Which means it takes much longer for them to learn how to ride a bike because they have to retrain their brain to balance instead of relying on their training wheels.
It worked! He did it! He was a little wobbly, but kept at it and he finally did it. I was so happy, I’m pretty sure the entire neighborhood saw and heard my victory dance!
Most of us have crutches that we hold onto in our lives. We think it’s safer that way, when really, pushing through the hard to let go of the crutch is what will truly make us happy! Holding on tight to avoid change handicaps us and holds us back from opening our wings. I encourage you to let go of whatever is holding you back!
Don’t hold back from making this Creamy Apple Cinnamon Salad! The combination of apples, cinnamon, walnuts, and cranberries creates a flavor profile that’s reminiscent of your favorite fall desserts while still feeling light and refreshing!
Why this Recipe Works
Crisp Apples Add Fresh Flavor and Crunch – Apples are the star of the recipe, providing natural sweetness, juicy texture, and a satisfying crunch. Their fresh flavor contrasts beautifully with the creamy dressing.
Cinnamon and Nutmeg Brings Warmth – These classic baking spices give the salad its signature cozy flavor. They transform a simple fruit salad into a dish that tastes like Fall in every bite.
Perfect for Any Occasion – I love how this can be served as a holiday dish, as a potluck favorite, a brunch addition, or a light dessert! This recipe delivers a crowd pleasing combination of creamy, crunchy, sweet, and spiced flavors.

Ingredients You’ll Need
1 (8 oz) Cream Cheese (Softened) – Creates the rich, creamy base of the salad dressing and adds a smooth, velvety texture.
1/2 cup Brown Sugar – Sweetens the dressing while adding warm caramel like notes that compliment the apples.
2 tsp Cinnamon – Provides cozy warmth and enhances the natural sweetness of the apples.
1/8 tsp Nutmeg – Adds subtle spice and depth of flavor, making the salad taste even more festive and seasonal.
1 (8 oz) container Sour Cream – Lightens the cream cheese mixture and adds a pleasant tangy flavor that balances the sweetness.
1 tsp Vanilla – Enhances the overall flavor and adds a hint of sweetness and warmth.
8 medium Apples (Cored & Diced) – The star ingredient, providing crisp texture, natural sweetness, and fresh apple flavor.
2 cups Cold Water – Used to soak the diced apples and help keep them fresh during preparation.
2 tbsp Lemon Juice – Helps prevent the apples from browning while adding a touch of brightness to the salad.
1 cup Walnuts (Chopped) – Adds a satisfying crunch and nutty flavor that pairs perfectly with apples and cinnamon.
3/4 cup Dried Cranberries – Contributes chewy texture, tartness, and a pop of color for extra flavor and visual appeal.

How to Make Creamy Apple Cinnamon Salad
Make the dressing by beating together 1 (8 oz) softened cream cheese, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 2 tsp cinnamon, and 1/8 tsp nutmeg until light and fluffy.
Beat in 1 (8 oz) container of sour cream and 1 tsp vanilla until well combined. Chill until ready to serve the salad.
In a large bowl, combine 2 cups cold water and 2 tbsp lemon juice.
Dice and core apples; transfer to the lemon water. Let sit for a minute. Drain the water then set apples on paper towel to dry.
Fold diced apples into the creamy mixture.
Then fold in 1 cup chopped walnuts and 3/4 cup dried cranberries.
Keep chilled and serve within an hour.
Use Crisp Apples – Choose firm, crisp apples such as Honeycrisp, Gala, Fuji, Pink Lady, or Granny Smith.
Adjust Diced Apples if Needed – You may need to add, or put fewer, diced apples into the dressing. Adjust as necessary so it’s proportionate in the mixture.
Make Ahead Carefully – You can prepare the dressing a day in advance and store it separately. Combine it with the apples an hour before serving for the freshest texture.
