Apple Dapple Cake

Rich, moist, old-fashioned cake loaded with chunks of fresh apples and warm spices topped with a buttery brown sugar glaze!

Simple Apple Dapple Cake

I explained how some ideas were discovered a long time ago when people didn’t have much to work with – they just used what they had!

I am convinced that someone came up with this Apple Dapple Cake because they didn’t feel like making Apple Fritters . I think this cake tastes just like them!

What You’ll Need for the Cake

3 cups Flour

1 tsp Baking Soda

2 tsp Cinnamon

1/2 tsp Nutmeg

1/2 tsp Salt

1 1/2 cups Oil

1 1/2 cups Sugar

1/2 cup Brown Sugar

2 tsp Vanilla

3 Eggs

4 cups Apples, Peeled & Chopped

And the Glaze

1/3 cup Butter

1/3 cup Brown Sugar

1/3 cup Sugar

1/3 cup Heavy Cream

1/2 tsp Vanilla

How to Make Apple Dapple Cake

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Spray 9 x 13 pan with non-stick spray and set aside.

In a small bowl, whisk together 3 cups flour, 1 tsp baking soda, 2 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp nutmeg, and 1/2 tsp salt.

In a large bowl, whisk together 1 1/2 cups oil, 1 1/2 cups sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 2 tsp vanilla, and 3 eggs.

Slowly mix dry ingredients into the wet until well combined.

Peel and chop enough apples to equal 4 cups. Fold apples into the batter.

Spread batter evenly into the prepared pan and bake for 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

While the cake is baking, make the glaze by adding 1/3 cup butter, 1/3 cup brown sugar, 1/3 cup sugar, 1/3 cup heavy cream, and 1/2 tsp vanilla into a sauce pan over medium heat.

Stir frequently until the mixture starts to simmer. Remove from the heat and cool for 5 minutes.

Pour glaze over the cake while it’s still warm.
