The Minty Treat Everyone Waits for All Year!

The smallest gestures can make the biggest impact, leaving lasting memories for your children to look back on when they are older! St. Patrick’s Day certainly doesn’t compare to Christmas on the holiday priority list, but it’s fun to recognize it in a small way with your kids!

For St. Patrick’s Day this year, let your kids know they are the Pot of Gold at the End of Your Rainbow or plant Rainbow Seeds with them!

Made with Simple Ingredients!

Ingredients You’ll Need

1 (1.5 quart) container Vanilla Ice Cream

1 1/2 cups Whole Milk

3/4 tsp Mint Extract

15 drops Liquid Green Food Coloring

How to Make a McDonald’s Copycat Shamrock Shake

Add 1.5 quart container of vanilla ice cream, 1 1/2 cups whole milk, 3/4 tsp mint extract, and 15 drops of liquid green food coloring to a blender and blend until smooth.

Pour into serving glasses and top with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry!

Does this Copycat Shamrock Shake taste like the original?

Yes! It has that classic creamy vanilla baes with a cool mint flavor that’s very close to the drive-thru favorite. Some people say it’s even better homemade!

How do I make it thicker?

Use more ice cream and less milk, or freeze the shake for a few minutes before serving to thicken it up.

Can I make this ahead of time?

It’s best enjoyed right away.

What toppings go well with a Shamrock Shake?

Whipped cream, chocolate syrup, green sprinkles, chocolate chips, or crushed Oreos.

Mint – Make sure to use ‘mint’ extract, not ‘peppermint.’ If you use peppermint it will taste like a candy cane instead of a Shamrock Shake!

Oreos – If you’d like, crush up Oreos and mix into your shake. Or, drizzle Hot Fudge Sauce in the glass first and/or on top of the whipped cream.

Ice Cream – Make sure to use Vanilla ice cream, not French Vanilla. French Vanilla is yellow and will require quite a bit more green food coloring.

Serving Size – This makes a huge batch. I suggest cutting the batch in half first to see how far that batch stretches. If you are making the full recipe, you’ll need to divide in half to accommodate the size/power of your blender.

Serve Immediately – It’s best not to make these ahead of time. I recommend making them right before serving to enjoy right away!
